I have directed a few live action music videos, including 50's "I GET MONEY" and I'm really starting to define and appreciate the differences between live action film making with real people and 3D animation with characters.
The main difference is that live film making is so much about timing and coordination and CATCHING the perfect image created within all that coordination, right there at the time of the shoot.
By contrast, In 3D film making, beauty hour can last a whole week if need be; there's NO sense of time or linear progression. Although live films are usually shot out of sequence and edited non-linearly, they are STILL bound by the constraints of the shooting schedule. Not so at all with 3D animation.
It's a blessing and a curse! The ability to turn one character into another or turn day into night or a sunny day into a rainy one... with infinite camera angles and focal lengths... is often too much to bear. I've spent whole days moving cameras around in search of perfect composition.
Thankfully, through productions like Prodigy's "ILLUMINATI," G Unit's "CLOSE TO ME," E-Shy's "PAPER BAG," and through great executive producers like Arie Deutsch, 50 Cent, and Joey P, my process and pipeline is becoming more and more clear and concise, to the point where I can now hire new young talent to be a part of my team. So if you hold an interest in 3D animation, a REAL INTEREST, hit me up!
